Black magic is empowered by its caster's intelligence, and thus is more Powerful for characters with high Int. Black magic is generally classified as attack and status ailment magic, but there are some support black magic spells. You can identify black magic by the purplish-color orb that appears when you cast it.

 

AERO

Description: Causes poison damage to the target. Very effective against bolt-base enemies, such as the T.Gigas and B.Dragon.

ASPIL

Description: Drains MP. Useful agains M.Suckers in Jade, if they get to you first.

Price: 15000

AURA

Description: Changes the color of the target, thus giving them special attributes. See special magic and theory on Aura.

BERSERK

Description: If the target is a foe, then the foe will only attack, abandoning magic. If the target is an ally, that ally recieves a boost in strength.

BLIND

Description: Causes darkness status, thus lowering hit%.

BOLT

Description: Causes thunder/lightning/sky damage. Effective against poison based enemies, like Mallows and the G.Dragon.

BREAK

Description: Causes Stone status to the target

CHARM

Description: Causes confusion

Description: Causes fire damage. Effective (obviously!) against ice based creatures, like the I.Gigas, and the Dragon.

Description: Causes damage (not sure if its Fire damage, I think it is).

HASTE

Description: Allows the target to hit more times.

ICE

Description: Deals ice damage to the enemies. Effective against fire based creatures (of course), like F.Gigas and R.Dragon.

SLEEP

Description: Causes the target to 'sleep.'

STONE

Description: Causes the target to turn to Stone (stone status).

X-ZONE

Description: Removes foe from battle. If it's used on the field, it takes you one floor closer to the exit of the dungeon.

Some forms of magic can only be used by enemies. These are listed below.

 

BLAST

Caster: Krull

Description: Causes Hold status.

 

BOW

Caster: Imperial Class enemies, DesAngel

Description: Causes physical damage. Basically an attack that can be used from the back row.

 

EXPLODE

Caster: Bomb Class enemies

Description: Sacrifices all HP to damage the target. Used only when the Bomb class enemy is provoked (i.e. attacked).

 

GAZE

Caster: Basilisk, Coctrice

Description: Causes Stone.

 

METEO

Caster: Emperor

Description: Causes damage to the party.

 

ROCK

Caster: Gigas class enemies

Description: Causes physical damage.

 

WAVE

Caster: SeaDrgn

Description: Causes ice damage.

 

WINK

Caster: Lamia Class

Description: Causes confusion.

 

-------->SPECIAL MAGIC<--------

 

The spells Aura, Heal, Barrier, and Dispel gain new abilities for each level they gain. Barrier level 16, for example, will offer Ice, Crt. Hit, Posion, Death, Bolt, Soul, and Fire Defense, while Barrier level 1 will only offer Ice defense. Below is a list of this progression.

-------->THEORY ON AURA<--------

 

Below is my theory on how Aura works. As Aura gains levels, it changes your character's color. Below are what I think the colors do (you may notice that they corrolate with the levels of Barrier/Dispel):

 

White Aura: Turns a character white, giving them Ice elemental attack.

Yellow Aura: Turns a character yellow, giving them more Critical Hit chance.

Green Aura: Turns a character green, giving them Poison status attack.

Black Aura: Turns a character black, giving them Death status attack.

Blue Aura: Turns a character blue, giving them Bolt elemental attack.

Orange Aura: Turns a character orange, giving them Soul elemental attack.

Red Aura: Turns a character red, giving them Fire elemental attack.
